Mit seiner Magazine-App „Currents“ ist Google vor fast genau einem Monat einen weiteren Schritt in den Digital-Publishing-Markt gegangen. Mit der App, die sowohl f\u00fcr Android<\/a> als auch f\u00fcrs iPad und iPhone<\/a> erh\u00e4ltlich ist (derzeit allerdings nur in den USA), werden Inhalte aus Zeitschriften, Nachrichten-Sites und Blogs in einem weitaus sch\u00f6neren Format pr\u00e4sentiert, als das bei normaler Ansicht auf mobilen Ger\u00e4ten sonst \u00fcblich ist. Die App erinnert jedoch in weiten Teilen an Flipboard.<\/p>\n

Ist man erst mal mit seinem Google-Login angemeldet, lassen sich bequem Inhalte abonnieren und die entsprechenden Icons werden auf dem Home-Screen der App platziert. Dass Google sp\u00e4ter einmal Geld mit Digital-Publishing verdienen m\u00f6chte liegt auf der Hand – und ist auch offensichtlich. Zwar werden derzeit nur „Add for free“-Buttons neben den ausw\u00e4hlbaren Zeitschriften und Newsseiten<\/a> gezeigt, doch es d\u00fcrfte nicht allzu lange dauern, bis da auch erste kostenpflichtige Inhalte erscheinen werden.

\nNeben den vorgegebenen Inhalten k\u00f6nnen auch beliebige weitere Inhalte aus RSS-Feeds hinzugef\u00fcgt werden. Zum Beispiel auch aus den Quellen, die man bereits in Google Reader liest. Dazu zeigt Currents die abonnierten Reader-Feeds bequem in der App an. <\/p>\n

Eigenes Blog ver\u00f6ffentlichen<\/strong>
\nAmbitionierte Blogger k\u00f6nnen nat\u00fcrlich auch ihr eigenes Blog f\u00fcr die Nutzung in Currents anmelden. Dazu dient der „Google Currents Producer<\/a>„, der allerdings nur mit Googles Chrome-Browser zu bedienen ist.<\/p>\n

Darin lassen sich nicht nur verschiedene „Editions“, also Magazine mit Inhalten aus verschiedenen Quellen (z.B. RSS, YouTube usw) erstellen, sondern auch Templates anpassen, Zugriffe definieren oder sogar Analytics-Code einbinden.<\/p>\n

Wer nun neugierig geworden ist, sei allerdings daran erinnert, dass die Apps derzeit nur in den USA erh\u00e4ltlich sind. Mit einem iTunes-US-Login kommt man aber ohne Probleme an die App. <\/p>\n
